Ranzi's alleged wrongdoing concerns his support for a federal bill which would swap 5,000 acres of privately-owned land for 3,000 acres of public land near the copper lode at Apache Leap, about an hour east of Phoenix. It has been claimed that Renzi backed the plan because the Resolution Copper Co. agreed to purchase a 480 plot owned by the congressman for $4 million.
