The basic Raw format has not changed in over a decade. The show will often start with a wrestler coming to the ring and grabbing a microphone to address the main storyline of the show. That wrestler's comments will almost always be interrupted by his main antagonist, and the two badmouth each other, setting up a match for the main event later that night.
Matches and backstage segments air throughout the program, and the main event usually starts around a quarter to the scheduled end of the show (10:45 PM). The overrun past 11 PM, often about five minutes, is usually where the show earns its biggest ratings, as some viewers prefer only seeing the finish of the main event than the match itself.
