Guide Note

Along with partners-in-crime Motley Crue, Ratt ruled Hollywood's Sunset Strip music scene in the early 1980s and were instrumental in ushering in the melodic hard rock period known as "hair metal." The mega-hit "Round and Round" from the band's first full-length release Out of the Cellar was one of the biggest (and certainly one of the first) hard rock videos to explode into the mainstream, mainly due to MTV's increasing willingness to air the heavier music.
