Qu Yuan

Qu Yuan, born in 339 BC, was a Chinese poet. The majority of his work can be found in Chu Ci, a poetry anthology. There has been dispute over the total amount of works written by Qu Yuan. One historical record believed to be the most accurate only mentions five pieces by him, while Wang Yi of the Eastern Han Dynasty claimed that there were 25 pieces.

Qu Yuan is credited with creating the poetry style of Sao, which is named after Li Sao. The Sao style is made up of verses of varying lengths, while the traditional style was made up of four-character verses.
