Protozoa are single-celled microorganisms that can be found in virtually any aqueous environment and many types of soil. They are too small to been seen by the naked eye, but are easily seen with a microscope. Fast Facts:

  1. Greek: proto means first, zoa means animal
  2. Kingdom: Protista
  3. Protozoa feed mostly on bacteria
  4. The size of protozoa can range from 1/5,000 to 1/50 of an inch in diameter
  5. There are a few protozoa that cause disease
