Forming at the age of 14 as Happy Go Lucky, Protest The Hero have accomplished more than most bands at such a young age. With their post-hardcore performances, they have drawn in a large following.

The band formed in 1999 while the members were all still in high school. While battling school schedules and giving up all weekends and summers, the band toured to make a name for themselves. The day the band completed their senior exams, they took off to complete a three week tour. The "Cock the Vote" tour was to raise awareness for the Canadian elections as well as get their name out there.

The band originally performed punk music and in 2001 released a seven inch vinyl, Search for the Truth and in 2003 released their debut EP, A Calculated Use of Sound. A Calculated Use of Sound was re-mastered and re-released in 2004 with the addition of a song titled "Soft Targets Dig Softer Graves."

The band began to move away from the punk style of music and more into the hardcore metal. With a new music style, the band released their debut full length album, Kezia in 2005. The band toured with numerous big name bands such as Limp Bizkit and Korn. In 2008 the band released their second full length album, Fortress.

Protest the Hero is a 5 piece all male band whose members include Rody Walker, Tim Millar, Luke Hoskin, Arif Mirabdolbaghi and Moe Carlson. Walker who is the lead singer is known to be a comedian and has a very energetic stage performance. They won Canadian Music Week Best Indie Metal Band in 2004 and were nominated again in 2006. The band appeared in a Canadian television commercial for Long & McQuade.
