Prestonwood Baptist Church

Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, is one of the largest churches in the U.S., with an estimated 26,000 members and 40 pastors.

On May 15, 2008, Prestonwood minister Joe Barron was arrested as part of an internet sex sting. Police say Barron was taken into custody after he drove to the town of Bryan, presumably to have sex with a 13-year-old girl. The "girl" was actually an undercover police officer.

Church Scandal

On May 16, 2008, Prestonwood Executive Pastor Mike Buster issued a brief statement about the Barron arrest. Buster said the church is "saddened" and "disturbed" about the arrest, and is "fully cooperating with the police in their investigation."

In addition to searching Barron's home office, authorities also searched his office at the church on May 15, 2008.
