2008 Tour de France

Plumelec was the arrival point for stage one of the 2008 Tour de France. Starting in Brest 197.5 kilometers away, cyclist Alejandro Valverde won the first stage on July 5.² Other cyclists Philippe Gilbert and Jerome Pineau placed second and third respectively.

The stage was particularly difficult because of the "nagging" hills and uphill finish in Plumelec.³
