Phentermine, a type of amphetamine, works by decreasing a person's appetite and increasing their energy levels. This occurs through phentermine's ability to stimulate the neurons responsible for increasing catecholamines levels. Consequently, appetite suppression results, through the inhibition of hunger stimulation caused by the elevated amount of catecholamines.¹
