Pharaoh Hound
The Pharaoh Hound is an ancient breed of dog whose lineage can be traced to roughly 4400 B. C. in Egypt.1 They are considered an intelligent, trainable, playful and active breed but are hunters and must be watched carefully around other small pets.2

Health Problems
The Pharaoh hound is a relatively rare breed and is not susceptible to common health issues caused by over breeding. Their coat is short and generally requires very little grooming. The pharaoh is considered a good dog with children but can be territorial with male dogs or small pets.3
Sports and Activities
The pharaoh was originally bred as a hunter, and a loyal companion to Egyptian Pharaohs. The dog, as it is known today, was developed in the Mediterranean island of Malta, and was used to hunt Rabbit.4 The pharaoh was recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1983.5 The breed is generally considered a playful, affectionate and intelligent breed.
