Perricone Diet

The Perricone Diet was developed by Nicholas Perricone, a board-certified dermatologist. Perricone believes that micro-inflammation¹ is the cause of skin problems, aging and obesity.

Anti-Inflammatory Diet

Perricone introduced his diet principles in 2001 with publication of The Wrinkle Cure, which maintained that this diet could prevent and reduce wrinkles.³ In 2002, The Perricone Prescription added the claim that an anti-inflammatory diet could decrease the likelihood of heart disease and cancer.⁴ The Perricone Promise focused on the diet's abilities to slow aging and improve mood.² He reissued the diet again in 2005, with The Perricone Weight Loss Diet, which promised weight loss without losing body tone.⁵

Advanced Glycation End Products

In 2007, Perricone released Ageless Face, Ageless Mind, which claimed that he had discovered the cause of age related memory loss — Advanced Glycation End Products (AGE)s — which can be fought by utilizing his anti-inflammatory diet. These AGEs, he maintains, are also a cause of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and wrinkles.⁶
