In 2007, Pepsi's Japanese distributor, Suntory, Ltd. began producing a new carbonated beverage containing the flavor of fresh cucumbers. Aye Takamoto, Suntory's spokeswoman, claimed that a cucumber flavored soda would be the perfect refresher for a consumer stuck out in the summer heat.
