Pedro Feliz is a third baseman that currently plays for the Philadelphia Phillies. He is regarded for his versatility defensively with his ability to play all positions on the field. Offensively, he is known as a power hitter with a history of striking out often. He was part of the 2002 National League Championship squad led by Barry Bonds.

Early Life

Pedro Julio Feliz was born in Azua de Compostela, Dominican Republic on April 27, 1975. He would develop his baseball skills in his youth in the Dominican Republic. He would be signed by the San Francisco Giants as a free agent in 1994.

Pro Career

Feliz would make his major league debut on September 5, 2000 with the San Francisco Giants. His career would start as a utility player, he would fill in for injured players at first base, shortstop, and the outfield. He would eventually earn the starting third baseman job in 2007. In one game in June of 2007 Feliz would play catcher in an emergency situation. Although Feliz has displayed descent power numbers he has a propensity to strike out often. In 2006, he would strike out 112 times. In 2008, Feliz signed a two year contract with the Philadelphia Phillies.
