Peaches (band)

Guide Note

Peaches is a Canadian techno artist whose sexually-explicit songs and gender-bending performances have garnered her a large cult following. Before becoming a recording artist, Peaches was an elementary school music and drama teacher. She produces her own albums and plays most of the instruments on her tracks.

Her songs are popular with TV producers and filmmakers. Her music can be heard in the films Mean Girls, Jackass Number Two and Lost in Translation. On television, her tracks have been used on Ugly Betty and The L Word.

Peaches' 2006 album Impeach My Bush included guest performances by such artists as Beth Ditto, Feist, Josh Homme, Samantha Maloney and Radio Sloan.

In Spring of 2006, Peaches toured with a live backing band, called The Herms (short for hermaphodites).
