In 1998 her debut album "Forever Your Girl" hit the number one spot on the Billboard top 200 chart and spent ten weeks there. She is currently a judge, along with Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, on the CBS hit television show, American Idol.

Forgetfulness

On April 29, 2008, Abdul seemed confused when it was her turn to give an opinion on the American Idol contestant Jason Castro. She apparently thought she heard him sing two songs, when in fact he sang one song. Abdul said: "Jason, first song, I loved hearing your lower register, which we never really hear… the second song- I felt like your usual charm was missing for me. It kind of left me a little empty."

Erratic Behavior

Allegations of substance abuse seem to follow Abdul. During the first few seasons of American Idol rumors of "erratic behavior" circulated the internet. In an interview by People magazine, in 2005, Abdul explained that she suffered from chronic pain after suffering a "cheerleading accident" when she was 17 years old. Abdul said she was pain-free and takes the anti-inflammatory medication Enbrel. In 2007, videos of Abdul slurring her speech circulated the internet. Abdul attributed this to her lack of sleep. She called the allegations lies.
