Palin eBay Jet
Sarah Palin, Republican Party vice presidential candidate for the Election 2008, mentioned in her speech at the Republican Convention 2008 how she put a luxury jet belonging to the state of Alaska on eBay to raise money for the state when she took office as governor. While Palin did put the jet on the Internet auction site, the plane was not sold through the site, since there were no offers for the asking price of $2.5 million. Instead, the plane was sold through a jet broker to a businessman in Alaska.1
