Padraig Harrington Wins British Open
Irish golfer Padraig Harrington won his second consecutive British Open on July 20, 2008, beating out Ian Poulter and Greg Norman for the title. Harrington is the first European golfer to successfully defend the British Open title since James Braid accomplished the feat in 1906.1
