History and Decline
The Psion Organiser was considered the first PDA and the term PDA was first used in 1992 by Apple CEO John Sculley. Sculley was referring the Apple Newton. The Palm Pilot was one of the most popular early PDAs.
Sales of PDAs fell nearly 44% from 2006 to 2007 due to the rise in cell phones that double as PDAs with phone capability. Consumers have found less use for standalone PDAs when modern cell phones like the iPhone can perform the same (if not more) functions.
