Guide Note: New Zealand teenager Owen Thor Walker was convicted of leading a group of computer hackers to send malicious software and steal data from over a million computers around the world, and causing economic losses of $20 million. The 18 year old was arrested in December of 2007, in an FBI investigation. Walker plead guilty on March 31, 2008 to six charges of using computers for illegal purposes. Walker went by the online name "Akill". He made almost $40,000 by designing a virus that was undetectable by anti-virus software, and sold it to hackers.
