Although the NBA has played outdoors once before, this was the first outdoor game to take place in the United States. On September 24, 1972, the Phoenix Suns played the Milwaukee Bucks at an outdoor baseball stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Suns defeated Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson of the Bucks with a score of 116-103.1
