As one of four college bowl games tied in with the Bowl Championship Series, the FedEx Orange Bowl has hosted the BCS Championship Game twice since its inception in 1998. After an extra game was added for the BCS title matchup, the Orange Bowl committee re-committed itself to the Atlantic Coast Conference and now brands itself as the "Host of the ACC Champion." The classic bowl celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2005, and after many decades as a traditional New Year's Day game, the Orange Bowl is now played a few days after January 1 to accommodate the BCS.
