Okami Wii Controls

Developed by Ready at Dawn, the Wii port of Okami makes extensive use of the system’s motion controls, allowing players to take full advantage of the in-game paintbrush by interacting with the wiimote. Similar to The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, attacks can be initiated by shaking the controller while yanking the nunchuk will cause Amaterasu to perform a dodge maneuver.

Impressions

Overall, Okami has been primarily met with positive reviews, obtaining an average score of 89% on GameRankings. However, it has attracted some minor criticism from a few editorials for having a somewhat sluggish control scheme. The learning curve is mostly attributed to the fact that players cannot chain attacks by simply waving the remote. Instead, each attack needs to be timed accurately in order to successfully string them together into a combo.
