Obamacans
During the 2008 primary season, the term Obamacans was coined to describe Republicans who have crossed party lines and expressed support for Senator Barack Obama. The phenomenon actually started earlier, however, when the organization Republicans for Obama was founded in 2006 to mobilize cross-party support for the Senator's candidacy. The most prominent Obamacan is Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of former president Dwight D. Eisenhower. Most recently, conservative attorney Douglas Kmiec, who served in the administrations of both Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, expressed his support for Obama.
