In March of 2008, the TV show Fox News Sunday on the Fox News Channel started a segment titled "Obama Watch," which host Chris Wallace called a weekly update on Barack Obama. The move was in response to Obama's refusal to appear on Fox News Sunday (or any Fox News Show) and "answer tough questions like every other candidate." A ticking clock counted down the minutes passed since Obama had first agreed to appear on the show, in May of 2006.

Fox will most likely stop the clock on April 27, 2008, when Obama is scheduled to appear as a guest on Fox News Sunday. The total will be around 730 days, 13 hours, 53 minutes and 18 seconds.

Obama and Fox News

Obama started to "freeze out" Fox News journalists after the network ran a controversial story about his identity as a Muslim and education at a Muslim school (known as a madrassah). The story, based on an article that ran in Insight Magazine, was later widely discredited. Hillary Rodham Clinton supporters Terry McAuliffe and Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell have praised Fox News for their coverage of the Democratic primary election.
