Obama Minute

Guide Note: The Obama Minute is a grassroots fund raising campaign organized by filmmaker Scott Cohen on behalf of Barack Obama. The campaign sought to raise $1 million in a single minute my rallying a mass of donors to contribute at exactly the same time. The event was scheduled for April 21, 2008 at 1 pm.

According to the official Obama Minute site: "Because of the overwhelming response, we are encouraging everyone to donate anytime today [April 21, 2008] ...All donations will be counted towards the minute."

The project is wholly administered by independent supporters of Barack Obama and is an example of the grassroots fund raising, in which many people donate small amounts, that his campaign has capitalized on. As of March, 2008 Barack Obama had already raised $234 million for his campaign.
