Obama Boy Comment

Guide Note:On April 12, 2008, Kentucky Congressman Geoff Davis, during a speech at a Republican fundraiser in Frankfort, referred to Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama as "that boy." Davis also said that Obama did not have the foreign policy experience to be the President, and called the Illinois Senator a "snake oil salesman."

Davis apologized for the comments after they became public, saying his choice of words was "regrettable", and the Congressman asked for Obama's forgiveness.

The use of the word "boy" in reference to African-American males is considered a derogatory and racist term, especially in the American South.
