OK X: A Tribute to OK Computer

OK X is a Radiohead tribute album put together by the music blog Stereogum. The compilation features 12 indie rock bands covering each covering one song off Radiohead's seminal 1997 album OK Computer. Though the songs are no longer free to download for legal reasons, they continue to be streamed online at Stereogum's website.

OK Computer Background

The Radiohead album OK Computer is among the most influential and enduring of the 1990s, and made Radiohead one of the world's most renowned and popular bands. It won a 1998 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album and was nominated for Album of the Year, was shortlisted for a Mercury Music Prize, placed #1 on the Pitchfork Media list of the Top 100 Albums of the '90 and was chosen by Spin Magazine as the #1 album of the past 20 years.

The concept album deals with issues of technophobia and paranoia, and includes multiple references to car and plane accidents.

Other OK Computer Covers

In 2006, a different OK Computer tribute album was released by dub and reggae artists under the name Radiodread. The next year, a string quartet cover of the album was released under the title Strung Out on OK Computer. Other bands and musicians who have covered songs from the album include Sneaker Pimps, John Frusciante and The Dresden Dolls.
