Though the men's basketball program has a much higher profile, the football team still has had some impressive and talented players come through their program. Perhaps the most recognizable is that of Pro Football Hall of Fame member Lawrence Taylor. Another defensive superstar, Julius Peppers also play for the Tar Heels. Additional players have included George Barclay, Natrone Means, Jeff Saturday, Alge Crumpler, Greg Ellis, Ronald Curry, Don McCauley, Willie Parker, Harris Barton, Tommy Barnhardt, Dre Bly and Kelvin Bryant.
