Norman Greenbaum

Norman Greenbaum is a rock solo artist and singer-songwriter, whose 1968 hit "Spirit In The Sky" went to #3 on the US pop charts, topped the UK charts and sold two million copies. The song remains a staple of rock and oldies radio playlists, and Greenbaum reportedly still lives off the royalties. Though Greenbaum is often said to exemplify the one-hit wonder phenomenon, he actually did produce one other minor hit, with the group Dr. West's Medicine Show and Junk Band—1967's "The Eggplant that Ate Chicago."
