Night at the Museum
Night at the Museum is a 2006 comedic fantasy film based on the 1993 children's book by the same name, written by Milan Trenc. The leading character, Larry Daley, is played by Ben Stiller.
Success and Sequel
On its opening weekend in December, 2006, the film grossed $30.8 million. The museum the story was based on claimed it had a 20% increase in visitors following the release of the film. 20th Century Fox is working on the sequel Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian, set to be released on May 22, 2009.
Plot Overview
The story is set in New York City's American Museum of Natural History. The nighttime security guard discovers that each night, the exhibits come to life due to an ancient curse.
