Built in 1880 in the Garden District, at the Commander's Palace you can enjoying fine creole cuisine at its finest with some of the local specialties. To begin your meal, try the turtle soup au sherry or lé petit couchon baton then continue with a main course of crispy soft shell crab with "jumbo lump Louisiana blue crabmeat, grilled sweet corn, tiny tomatoes, pinched herbs, shaved sweet onions and organic grits with charred chili-avocado emulsion." Finish your meal with a rich and satisfying dessert of Bread Pudding Soufflé, but order it at the beginning of your meal, as it is made to order.

If you are ready to relax while still enjoying the flavors of New Orleans, try The Marigny Brasserie on Frenchmen Street across from Washington Square. It is a favorite place of the locals and foodies alike. For a started, try the lamb meatballs or spinach and duck salad. The best choices for your entrée are the herb roasted chicken or the bouillabaisse.

Affordable Dining

For a inexpensive yet delicious snack or meal, stopping by Café Du Monde is a must. Established in 1962 in the French Market, it quickly became famous for its chicory roasted coffee and beignets. Try the coffee au lait, mixed with hot half and half.
