New Jersey Exit Polls
Barack Obama won the state of New Jersey in the 2008 presidential election, defeating John McCain and winning the state's 15 electoral votes. Obama went on to win the presidency, and gave an acceptance speech in Chicago, Illinois.
For the first time in presidential politics in New Jersey, voters no longer had to give a reason for applying for absentee ballots.1
In New Jersey state politics, 84-year-old Frank Lautenberg (D) was elected for a fifth-term in the Senate, defeating republican Richard Zimmer.2
