Release
About 20 minutes after its release, NetShare was taken down from the iPhone App Store for undisclosed reasons.6 Some websites assumed the removal had something to do with a violation of AT&T's terms of service.7
According to TechCrunch, AT&T, the exclusive U.S. service provider for the iPhone, prohibits tethering for the device.1 Nullriver stated it was "not quite sure" why NetShare was taken down, but assured on its official website that the program "did not violate" any agreements.8
The application was available for download in the App Store again on August 1, 2008.6 Apple however reconsidered the application pulling it for good on August 2, 2008.2 Some have speculated that Netshare was pulled to allowed for a AT&T and Apple authorized iPhone 3G tethering plan.9
Nullriver Statement
"We're not quite sure why Apple took down the NetShare application yet, we've received no communication from Apple thus far. NetShare did not violate any of the Developer or AppStore agreements."8
