Billionaire investor Nelson Peltz is the owner of Triarc, the conglomerate that owns restaurant franchises such as Arby's, TJ Cinnamon and Pasta Connection. The company recently made a deal to add Wendy's to its lineup of holdings, in a stock deal estimated to be worth around $2.3 billion. (Wendy's has struggled since the 2002 death of founder Dave Thomas.)

This move would increase Peltz's holdings, through his hedge hedge fund Trian Group, to include more than 10,000 individual restaurants.

Peltz dropped out of a graduate business program at University of Pennsylvania to work for his family's catering and food service company, selling food to restaurants in the New York City area.
