Guide Note:Nazi Gold is a blanket term for hundreds of millions of dollars of treasure looted from governments and individuals during
World War II to finance the German war effort. Much of the Nazi gold remains unrecovered, and discoveries of presumed lost Nazi gold continue to be made. One such potential discovery, the lost Amber Room treasures of St. Petersburg appropriated during the Nazi invasion of Russia in 1941, was alleged to be in a man-made cavern in
Deutschneudorf, Germany in February, 2008.
