NCAA Football 09 is a college football video game released on multiple platforms. The game is developed by EA Sports and is the sixteenth edition of the popular NCAA Football video game franchise. Former University of Arkansas running back Darren McFadden has been announced as the cover athlete for 2009 on the Xbox 360 edition of the game.

Story

The player is on a college football team where you try to win a series of games to make it to the championship game to win the trophy. The user selects and executes plays as they control the various athletes on their roster.

Gameplay

NCAA Football 09 will offer all the same traditional gameplay modes as previous versions of the game, including dynasty mode, campus legend mode, and the regular play now single game mode. Users can choose to play another user, either online or in person with a second controller, or alternatively play against the computer on varying difficulty levels. A brand new break away animation engine will be introduced for smoother gameplay and greater control of players. Additionally the stadium and field graphics will be greatly improved, with the grass deteriorating as the game goes on, and backup players, coaches, and mascots being more in tune with the action on the field. Online play will be upgraded with a new online dynasty mode as well as a new file sharing feature. Finally, the game will have a much more realistic feel, as the crowd and home field advantage will effect the players on the field, and the offensive lineman will create bigger holes to run through and cut back.

Wii Promotion

To celebrate the first edition of NCAA Football 09 available on the Nintendo Wii, EA Sports ran a competition from February 14, 2008 to March 14, 2008 to determine the most popular Division I college football mascot, the winner of which would be featured on the cover of the Wii edition of the game. The fans voted and Sparty the Spartan of Michigan State University edged out all the other mascots and as a result will be on the Wii cover.
