Guide Note: November 3, 2007: One month after his controversial re-election, Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf declared a state of emergency in that nation. On November 29, Musharraf, promised to lift a state of emergency on December 16, reducing the risk opposition parties will boycott the January 8, 2008, nationwide parliamentary elections.
