The Mona Lisa is an oil painting by Leonardo da Vinci which was painted in the 16th Century during the Italian Renaissance. The painting is currently hanging in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France.

Subject of the Painting
The paining is named after Lisa del Giocondo, also known as Lisa Gherardini.3 She was the wife of a Florentine cloth merchant named Francesco del Giocondo. Although the painting was commissioned, it seems that Leonardo took the completed painting with him to France instead of giving it to the Giocondos.4
Locations of the Mona Lisa
Louis XIV was given the painting and moved it into the Palace of Versailles. Napoleon Bonaparte moved the painting into his bedroom at the Tuileries Palace.
