Career

After graduating from Colombia University, Mitch Albom worked for several newspapers before becoming a sports columnist for The Detroit Free Press in 1985. He continues to sporadically produce a syndicated general interest column. The success of his column led to a concurrent career as a sports talk radio host.

Albom's writing career began by collaborating with his friend Bo Schembechler on Schembechler's biography. The book became his first New York Times bestseller. His next work, Tuesdays With Morrie, has sold more than eleven million copies worldwide. Albom followed that memoir with two novels that are also international successes.
