Mike Singletary
Mike Singletary is a retired NFL linebacker and the current head coach of the San Francisco 49ers. As a player he was one of the most feared middle linebackers in the league. He was the captain of the 1985 Chicago Bears defense, perhaps one of the most dominant in NFL history.
On October 30, 2008, news agencies reported that Singletary dropped his pants at halftime to illustrate the team's embarrassing performance. The gesture was meant as an inspirational tactic.1

Brief Biography
After a hall of fame career with the Chicago Bears, Mike Singletary is currently the head coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He started his career in coaching with the Baltimore Ravens tutoring dominant inside linebacker Ray Lewis to an NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2003.
Early Fireworks as Head Coach
On October 21, 2008, the 49ers introduced Singletary as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers, taking the place of previous coach Mike Nolan, who was fired the day before.2
In his first game as head coach, Singletary benched quarterback JT O'Sullivan after Sullivan threw several interceptions and also sent tight end Vernon Davis to the showers after screaming at him in full view of the entire team. The 49ers lost the game 34-13. Singletary said the moves were made to instill a team concept rather than individual play.3
