Mike Mussina

Guide Note

Mike Mussina is a Starting Pitcher for the New York Yankees. The Baltimore Orioles originally drafted Mussina in the 11th round of the 1987 amateur draft. Mussina decline a contract however, choosing to instead to star on the baseball diamond for Stanford University. The orioles drafted Mussina a second time in the 1st round of the 1990 draft. This time Mussina signed a contract to join the Orioles organization. Mussina's stint with the Orioles included 5 All-Star appearances, three Gold Glove Awards, and several Cy Young Award considerations. In 2000 Mussina was granted free agency, and choose to sign a contract to pitch for the Yankees, putting an end to his 20 year tenure as an Oriole. Mussina has pitched the last eight seasons with the Yankees.
