Microsoft Announcement
On February 21, 2008, Microsoft announced they would implement changes that would increase interoperability of it's products. These changes will affect Microsoft's technology and business practices on a far-reaching and fundamental level. The goal is to be more open and responsive to industry standards, customer demands, and community ideas. This will give more access and options to developers, end users, and partners of Microsoft. They have outlined four essential principles in this business strategy.
4 New Principles:
- Ensure open connections
- Promote data portability
- Enhance support for industry standards
- Foster more open engagement with customers open source communities, and the industry
