Sack Record
When Strahan broke the single season sacks record in 2002, many criticized the way he achieved the feat. Before recording the sack, Strahan spoke with Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre. On the ensuing play, Favre scrambled to Strahan's side and dove to the turf as Strahan fell on him for the sack. Many Giants' players then patted Favre's helmet in celebration. Observers were critical of the move and accused Favre of taking a dive on purpose in order to help his friend Strahan break the sack record.
Retirement
On June 9, 2008 Strahan announced his retirement after 15 seasons in the NFL. Strahan finished his career with 141.5 sacks, 854 tackles, and seven Pro Bowl selections. It is very likely that Strahan could be a first ballot Hall of Famer in the Pro Football Hall of Fame when he is eligible for enshrinement in 2013.
