Michael Jordan is a retired NBA guard. He played the majority of his career with the Chicago Bulls and completed his final years with the Washington Wizards in 2003. He is widely regarded as one of the three greatest players in the history of the NBA. He is also one of the most recognizable personalities in the history of Sports.¹

Early Life

Michael Jeffrey Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 17, 1963. He attended High School in Emsley A. Laney High School in Wilmington, North Carolina. Then went on to attend the University of North Carolina. Under the tutelage of legendary coach Dean Smith he won an NCAA Championship in 1982 and was the winner of the Naismith and Wooden College Player of the Year Award in 1984.

Pro Career

With the third pick in the 1984 draft the Chicago Bulls selected Michael Jordan. In his first year he would be elected to the All-Star Game and win the NBA Rookie of the Year. In the following year Jordan would compile an impressive collection of awards and individual records but arguably his most impressive feat was leading the Chicago Bulls to six NBA Championships. He had retired from the sport several times, with last run coming with the Washington Wizards from 2001-2003. He has won NBA MVP five times in 1988, 1991,1992, 1996, and 1998. He was the Defensive player of the year in 1988 and was elected to the All-Star team 14 times in his career.

Post Playing Career

Jordan was the Director of Basketball Operations for the Washington Wizards from 2000-2003. He is currently the managing member of Basketball Operations of the Charlotte Bobcats and oversees his lucrative Jordan Brand, which is subdivision of NIKE featuring shoes and apparel endorsed by Jordan.
