Metal Gear Solid 4 Secret Weapons
- Following are examples of some of the more popular secret weapons:
- Emotion Bullets
- There are several different types of these specialized bullets that cause affected enemies to overflow with emotion and eventually become unconscious. For example, the yellow "laugh" bullets will cause enemies to erupt into uncontrollable laughter, while the blue "cry" bullets will cause them to sob and become weak. Red "rage" bullets cause them to hunt Snake with increased aggression. Green "scream" bullets will cause them to drop their weapons and begin wailing. Emotion bullets are available for purchase in Drebin's Shop on the second and subsequent playthroughs.
- Emotion Mag
- The Emotion Mag is a special item available for purchase at Drebin's shop during the first playthrough of MGS4. When placed near an unsuspecting enemy soldier, it causes them to become overwhelmed with the particular emotion displayed on the page. You have the ability to control which page is displaying prior to placing the magazine in the path of a soldier. During your second playthrough, the magazine will feature photos of the Beauty version of "The Beauty and the Beasts" unit.
- Mantis Doll
- The Psycho Mantis Doll is a special item acquired in the first playthrough of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots after defeating Screaming Mantis in Act 5 using non-lethal attacks. Finish the game after obtaining the item and start a new game. Snake will then be able to use the Mantis Doll to take psychological control over enemy soldiers and shake them to death in the air. To use this item, aim the doll at the enemy soldiers and fire the projectile at them with R1. Once it hits the target, press L1 and shake the controller.
- Sorrow Doll
- The Sorrow Doll is a special item that may be acquired in the first playthrough of MSG4 at the same time as Mantis Doll. It is obtained after defeating Screaming Mantis in Act 5 using non-lethal attacks. The Sorrow Doll allows Snake to take control over dead bodies in the same fashion as the Mantis Doll allows control of live enemies. Snake can use this doll to shake dead bodies in the air to reveal additional hidden items that are hidden in their corpses. Acquired towards the end of the first playthrough, the Sorrow Doll is available from the beginning of subsequent playthroughs.
- Solar Gun
- The Solar Gun is awarded upon completion of the game, after the final credits, once all of the five hidden dolls have been obtained. The Solar Gun causes enemies to drop weapons and items, and causes extreme damage to Vamp. Fully charge with L1 prior to firing, and it will render enemy soldiers unconscious. The Solar Gun's battery must be recharged outdoors, in direct sunlight, by holding the Circle button.
