Metabolic Syndrome
Metabolic syndrome is a group of risk factors postulated to increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes among other diseases.1 There is controversy about whether or not the combination of factors actually increases the risk over and above the risk that each poses on its own.2
If just one of the contributing factors is present, metabolic syndrome is not the answer. Metabolic syndrome involves a combination of conditions. The diagnosing criteria is still debated. There are a couple different options, but a physician should be contacted to determine the appropriate one.
