Mesothelioma is a type of cancer originating in the mesothelium, the tissue lining the organs of the body. While it most commonly starts in the lungs, mesothelioma can begin in any organ. However, the symptoms of mesothelioma vary depending on where the cancer starts.

Mesothelioma builds gradually overtime after long-term exposure to asbestos. In fact, it takes between 30 to 50 years of inhaling asbestos particles to develop mesothelioma. While mesothelioma is quite rare, it is a very serious disease.¹
