Merkel Cell Carcinoma
Merkel cell carcinoma is a very aggressive form of skin cancer. Found on the top layer of skin, merkel cells make hormones. Merkel cell carcinoma has the tendency to metastasize rapidly, and it first spreads to the lymph nodes. This type of cancer primarily occurs on areas of the body that get the most sun exposure.1
