Guide Note: On September 20, 2007: Melvyn Weiss, co-founder of law firm Milberg Weiss was indicted on charges of conspiracy, racketeering; obstruction of justice and making false statements related to illegal payments to plaintiffs in class-action cases. On March 20, 2008, Weiss agreed to plea guilty to the charges in return for serving some of his time under house arrest, or community service. In addition Weiss agreed to pay $10 million in fines.
