On July 30, 2008, the campaign of republican presidential candidate John McCain released a new advertisement that refers to Barack Obama as the "biggest celebrity in the world." The video, titled "Celeb," features images of pop star Britney Spears and socialite Paris Hilton, along with footage of the large crowd that gathered for Obama's speech in Berlin.1 The Obama campaign did not remain silent long, releasing their response as the Obama "embrace" advertisement, which portrays McCain as the true Washington celebrity.
